"Growing up I didn’t have a dog and when my partner convinced me to get a dog we decided a red lab was what we wanted for our future family member. We found Maple Creek Kennels on a Facebook group at the end of 2020/beginning of 2021. We were the second pick for the male puppies. When it came time to choose our puppy Emily put all the available male pups on one side of the enclosure and the red collar puppy went right to my partner and laid underneath him. We tried a temperament test on all the available pups (holding them on their back and see who freaked out and who was chill.) I think all the pups were relatively chill but the red collar was just so laid back and he was the darkest and chunkiest, so we picked him.
When we brought Indy home and he learned so fast. He didn’t whine or pee in the kennel. He was unbothered by the exterior home improvement we had going on soon after he came home. He didn’t start barking until he was over a year old and he primarily barks are the wildlife in the yard. We started obedience classes with him at three months old and we haven’t stopped taking classes since. We get compliments all the time for how well-behaved Indy is and how handsome he is. Indy is such a versatile dog. We take him pheasant hunting, swimming and hiking. He is a certified therapy dog that regularly visits a nursing home in Coon Rapids. He has a variety of titles through the AKC like Advanced Trick Dog, Farm Dog Certified, Canine Good Citizen Community Canine, Senior Dock Diving titles just to name a few. We recently started dog modeling with Indy.
